Persian rugs were the inspiration for the red tone-on-tone glassing of Satine. Her strong architectural lines were built from the waspy waist of her base, which is a simple wooden pillar candlestick.
The addition of Lucilia sericata, better known as the common Green Bottle Blow-fly, was added for fun -- so "Satine" wouldn't take herself too seriously.
