If I weren't me and I viewed the majority of my artwork, I would probably say, "Gee, that artist must love flowers." And it would, in a way, be a true statement. Most of my work is indeed floral, but not necessarily for my love of the flower -- more for my love of the form, the curves, and the vitality of the colors. These elements just happen to be found in combination often in the world of flora. But the arc, the curve, the ellipse and the ever-popular nautilus . . . these are the real visual components that have me sketching, and filling more than a couple of pages in the 'ole sketchbook until I hit on just the right balance of shapes. I enjoy beauty, which led me to my current medium of glass. It may seem unforgiving and hard, but its colors appear so liquid, and the way it reacts with even a minor change of light makes it a tricky challenge and always exciting to work with.
