I was a gardener long before I cut and placed my first bit of glass. My love of flowers led me to appreciate the subtleties of color and form, the distinctiveness of each variety, and the combinations and backgrounds that can highlight a single blossom. I often think of my extensive garden as a sort of mosaic, where many elements combine into a whole, and, with "Columbine", I'm bringing this garden into the mosaic studio. Here, as in the garden, I can explore and interpret what makes this flower unique and distinct from others, and create an elegant background befitting its sturdy, delicate beauty.
