April 21 - 22, 2012
Yulia Hanansen is an internationally known award winning artist with lifelong experience in fine arts. She owns Mosaic Sphere Studio, LLC, and has been continuously instructing mosaic classes since 2001. Emphasis is placed on the individual’s ability to learn and understand the mosaic-making process in order to appreciate this form of art. In addition to mosaics, Yulia is a printmaking/drawing instructor at Towson University, MD. Yulia has taught or assisted teaching fine art subjects in the following institutions: University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, Columbia University, Cooper Union, Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, Ann Arbor Art Center, Maverick Mosaics, Unicorn Art Studio, Chicago Mosaic School, and SAMA conference workshops.

Yulia's latest works represent her fascination with the cosmos and its connection to humanity. She is currently working with a layered glass mosaic technique, where tiles are glued on top of each other. In 2011, Yulia’s mosaic won Best of Show at SAMA’s Mosaic Arts International exhibition. Yulia also works on more earthly subjects such as portraying the environment, including flowers. Yulia's latest public commissions include a 116 sq ft mural at the public library in Medina, OH, and a series of murals at the University of Michigan Botanical Gardens completed with a group of volunteers. Images are available at http://www.mosaicsphere.com.

Yulia’s works have been exhibited in galleries nationwide: Chicago, San Francisco, New York City, Mesa, and Miami, to name a few. Her work has been collected by patrons in the USA (AZ, MD, MA, MI, NY, CA, IL, FL, GA, MI, TX, WA, OH, PA, NJ, OR), Russia, Lithuania, Uzbekistan, Israel, Australia, Italy, South Korea, and South Pole.
