Tina Alberni is a 14-year Art education veteran with 20+ years experience as a professional artist.

Early Years
Tina Alberni is Cuban-American and was raised in Bogotá, Colombia. As a small child, she had the opportunity to express herself using oils, charcoal, pastels and anything she could get her hands on. Influences of daily folklore, animals, deeply colored and textured landscapes, fabrics and people from all walks of life influenced her then, and today continue to weave into her art on many levels.

Education
Years later, during Alberni’s senior year of high school, she moved back to the United States and received her first formal art training in drawing and photography. In college, she was particularly inspired by black and white photography, the techniques of printmaking and its endless possibilities, and deeply explored the world of lithography, monotype and mixed media. Eventually, after taking many art courses, she received a degree in Art Education.

Career
During 14 years, Alberni’s professional art career was paralleled with teaching art to middle and high school students and leading the Art Department of a prestigious school in Florida. Multiple opportunities lead Alberni to exhibitions in the U.S., South America & Europe. These exhibitions and other projects and public works, also lead her work to corporate and private collections.

Expression
Her work is as much an intellectual journey as it is an articulate expression. Synesthesia* influences her color choices, intuition and **serendipity play huge roles in her media direction, and extensive experience in a variety of media allow her to access a repertoire of materials without fear.

Alberni is definitely not defined by media. Media simply allows for an interesting journey and unexpected results. A combination of media such as: pastels, oil paints, acrylics, collage elements, inks, wax, graphite, digital art, photography, and other non-conventional materials, are found throughout the body of her work.

Throughout the years, Alberni has been involved, at multiple levels, with numerous multicultural art organizations, public art projects & outreach opportunities.

Current
Alberni has just partnered with Ciel Gallery in Charlotte, NC, a gallery centering around the art of mosaics. This is a very exciting venture, one that will allow growth as a professional artist and lots of opportunities to reach out to the community, as well as to teach an array of classes that will tap into neat experiences with the art of creating.

This venture has initiated some new directions in her art. She is exploring the art and concept of mosaic and integrating aspects into her work.

* an involuntary joining in which the real information of one sense is accompanied by a perception in another sense. (All numbers, letters, and months of the year have a particular color and a particular 3 dimensional placement in my head…it is always the same. I also “see” every word I hear nearly simultaneously to its inception and I have an instant visual in my mind for every sound I hear (these images are not necessarily the same each time, though often times they are.)
